While growing up, I was never a fan of the 'Nigerian Salad'. One of two Nigerians sees Salad as a mix of; Romaine lettuce, hard boiled Eggs, Carrots, Cucumber, Baked beans, Sweet Corn and salad cream.
I'm yet to understand is how this particular combination of ingredients became the Nigerian Salad, for most Nigerians salad is an important dish on the menu.
Every Owambe(Party) you attend, you are sure to be served this particular salad alongside Jollof rice or fried rice.
A salad is a dish that consists of mixtures of raw or cooked vegetables, fruit, and sometimes accompanied by meat, fish, or other ingredients. However, different varieties of salad may contain virtually any type of ready-to-eat food.
With time, I discovered other ways of making salad, some of which do not follow the standard salad recipe.
This gives room for creative, such as taking out ingredients you don't like and adding the ingredients you like, anything that satisfies your taste buds.
Here is my own creative salad made up of avocado Pear, broccoli, spring onions, chicken breast😍, carrot and mint leaf.
My take from this experience is that it is important to be open minded and never let past experiences keep you away from learning new things...
